Free Concert series at Loring Park

This afternoon I'm driving to Augsburg to conduct some interviews for Bonner Leader applicants... We will be selecting incoming First Years to join the program.

BUT. The real reason I'm going to Minneapolis (at least the more exciting reason) is for the 4 NIGHTS IN LORING PARK!

Tonight's show will feature "Marijuana Deathsquads," which is a house band that plays many shows at Nick and Eddie's. POS is bound to be there, and also it is rumored that MEMBERS OF GAYNGS WILL BE THERE!!!!!

(speaking of Gayngs... Here is a video from the Gayngs concert I attended at First Ave a couple months ago: http://vimeo.com/12907606 If you look closely, you can see me starting the Gayngs sign at about 6:24 into the video... I'm a trend setter ;) it was awesome)

I'm really hoping for an appearance from Justin Vernon... It will make week.

From soundverite.blogspot.com:

On Tuesday, August 10, the Gimme Noise music blog is proud to present a unique performance by Marijuana Deathsquads. Spearheaded by producer Ryan Olson (who recently raised to prominence with his recording project Gayngs), Tuesday night’s performance will be a collaborative improvisation between Olson, P.O.S, members of Gayngs, and surprise special guests.

Anyone who has caught one of Marijuana Deathsquads’ 26 consecutive house gigs at Nick and Eddie can attest that they are notorious for pulling in a revolving crew of musical luminaries from around the Twin Cities and for showcasing bombastic and unpredictable sets of improvised mania. Olson will be composing a song just for the occasion.

Caroline Smith... THIS THURSDAY.

This Thursday, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, there will be a FREEEEE Caroline Smith and the Goodnight Sleeps concert in downtown Minneapolis. The venue is the Peavey Plaza.

I'm getting a bunch of Augsburg peeps together for the show. We'll take the lightrail to the show, come back, party a bit, and maybe start a riot.

Here's some Caroline Smith goodness for you:

Here's some pictures I took of the concert at the Cedar Cultural Center (when she opened for Horse Feathers):

Wait... It's July already?!?

Hey all,

First of all... I'm sorry it's been so long.

I have a lot to talk about.

Right now I will just update you on the basics, and I will offer some details/pictures later.

I turned 21
I turned 21 about a month ago. Nothing feels different... I've only went to the bars twice so far (most of my friends back here at home aren't 21!!!! grrr..), but it's kind of nice to be able to order a beer at a restaurant.

I canoed 250 miles down the Mississippi River
I definitely have pictures to show. It was one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life, and I will soon tell you all about it.

I have a job as a personal assistant to a fashion designer
I applied for at least 10 jobs this summer... And got none of them. Finally, my uncle introduced me to a woman he knows and BOOM! I got a job helping her out with her clothing company.

I will be an Orientation Leader for the class of 2014
I have attended a few training sessions and retreats so far this summer... Which makes me really look forward to going back to school..

That's all just the summary for now.. Like I said, I will update you all later when I have more time. :)

I will leave you with a couple pictures I took this summer:

This is a picture of a building on Cedar Avenue, just a few blocks from Augsburg.

This is a picture right near the backyard of my house.

School's Out!!!

Hey all,

So school is finally out.. Yes.

The last three weeks of school have been the most stressful weeks of my entire academic career... I'm just glad that I survived.

So. I'm still living on campus doing ResLife stuff (because I'm a CA--Community Advisor in Mortensen Hall). Yesterday was my last day of work however; we moved mattresses around for a few hours, but now i'm done with work.

I've been mostly relaxing now, figuring out financial aid stuff, looking for jobs, etc... Last night, my roomie Eli, Jess, Claire and I watched the documentary "Trouble the Water" together. While not an excellent documentary, I think that it is a must-see. The trailer is below, so check it out.

Today's schedule:

I'm volunteering at the East African Women's Center for a few hours. We're painting the building.

Pick-up soccer game this afternoon.

Continue looking for a job.

Sell back some books.

Meet with a person on campus in order to look for some scholarships.

Go out to Pizza Luce tonight with some friends for a going away party.

If the weather is nice tonight, we will go on an adventure by Minnehaha falls or something... We'll see.

Peace on earth,
Adam

"Impress" DJ Slick Scott & The Cronies

So y'all. This is my newest video made for my Doc Video class... Nothing went according to plan. I had problems with learning how to use Soundtrack Pro, cutting up my beat, writing the song, etc... By then it was Tuesday and my actors only could work on Monday, and I was running out of time... SOOOOO. Instead of doing my original idea, I called up my buddies and we snuck into the film studio and made a video at 11:30pm on Tuesday. We just wanted to have fun.

No stress.
